Hi Atlantis,
I'm not able to download this file. I think the download site is not working properly.
When I click the 'Download' link, it says a .pdf file is downloading, and a 1kb file with a .pdf extension is saved. However, (a) it's only 1kb, not 3Mb; (b) it's not a valid .pdf file (it's actually a .html file containing acouple of lines of script).
Might it be possible to repost this file to a different download site?
Please!!

Atlantis,
Would you be able to repost this to one of the file sharing sites?
Many thanks.
i have been approved to write the cover story for local newspaper about jehovah's witnesses.
it can't be any more than 2,500 words.
this newspaper has a huge reader-base.
How about referring to Barbara Anderson's recent CD (www.watchtowerdocuments.com)?
Nobody can complain about the authenticity of the court documents.
An article like this might also generate a few more CD sales for Barbara.
the relationship between local elders and the circuit overseer has fluctuated over the years.
in the sixties, .
the circuit overseer simply appointed all the servants.
TMS,
In the early to mid-seventies with the introduction of the elder arrangement, the relationship changed. At one
point the circuit overseer became "just another elder" with no more authority than the local men.
Allegedly NHK was determined to abolish all COs because they were expensive and unproductive. Then he died and the idea was shelved.
In any case, wouldn't the 'three-year' rule (QB: km 10/72 p8) have applied?
Incidentally, I presume this brother was really wealthy ...? Did you notice how the COs always cuddled up to the the wealthiest ones on the scrounge for new suits, holidays, etc; and the wealthy brothers cozied up to the COs on the scrounge for elderships, C/Assy talks and other 'privileges'? A case of genuine symbiosis!
Danny,
I think you'll find that 'Danish CO' web site is a (quite funny) spoof!
E.g. see http://www.dbhome.dk/carlo/607.html:
Something rather odd occurred the other day. A few of the young sisters were visiting our home. After a short while, they all left in a hurry, once again, to get some ice cream. As they were leaving, one young sister dropped a scrap of paper from the notebook she had with her. On it, there was a word my husband and I had never seen before. It is spelled, "Fellatio". We thought it might be some type of new dance, or perhaps one of these musical groups which are all the rage among the youth.
And:
A dutch sister has asked us:
Dear Brother CO.
Can you give us some advises on litterature to abstain from? ...
With all the anti-Watchtower information that has been spreading all over the world via the Internet, it becomes all the more important to stay close to Jehovah and his organization. To this end, the enclosed information should be very helpful in protecting the brotherhood from whatever misleading information is out there by keeping formost in mind the REAL issues that are are involved in one's relationship with Jehovah God and his Son, Christ Jesus.
After very careful consideration, it is felt the most important advise that will protect all faithful Witnesses is this: Under no circumstances should anyone read the book "Crisis of Consicence" by the former member of the Governing Body, Raymond Franz! As the March 15, 1986 warned us...
When a fellow human tells us, 'Do not read this', or 'Do not read that,' we may be tempted to ignore his advice. But remember, in this case Jehovah is the One who tells us in his Word what to do..If, out of curiosity, we were to read the literature of a known apostate, would that not be the same as inviting this enemy of true worship right into home to sit down with us and relate his apostate ideas? Therefore it is out of respect for the wisdom Jehovah God that we never read anything that the Governing Body tells us not to read.
The fact that everything in "Crisis of Conscience" is true is NOT the issue!
. . . etc
inspired by recent events here on jwd.
what makes a cult a cult and whose definition matters most?.
from a google search:.
I agree with this definition:
The modern definition of a mind control cult is any group which employs mind control and deceptive recruiting techniques. In other words cults trick people into joining and coerce them into staying. This is the definition that most people would agree with. Except the cults themselves of course!
I think this is an excellent, concise, summary of 'how cults work.'
there a loads of anti-jw sites out there.. if you had to choose just one as being the best (apart from jwd, of course!
), which one would you pick?
perhaps which was most helpful when you were leaving?
deeskis,
You're looking terrific these days!
And I agree, jwfacts is an excellent site.
Thanks.

The gradualism of it allowed me to look at just one issue, blood, without having to throw everything away at once.
Excellent point, thanks, OM.

Thanks Mulan and WTWizard.
Guess what I just remembered? The Links section on JWD ...
Thanks Angharad and Lady Lee.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
I should have said that I'm looking for a good site that I can suggest to an old JW friend. He emailed me a couple of days ago, after not having heard from him for almost four years, asking how I was. I rang him last night and we chatted for more than an hour.
Anyway, he's only just starting to ask questions, and I don't want to frighten him with anything too 'radical' ... !
nvrgnbk, interesting quote, but I don't think I'll send him to a Satanist site.
bigwilly, much as I value JWD, I don't think he's ready yet for threads on Strip clubs or Gay Sexual Behavior ... !
I'm really looking for factual, information sites, rather than discussion forums.
GGG, funnily enough, Beyond Jehovah's Witnesses was one of the first sites I looked at. Yes, it was very gentle.
AlphaOmega, CARM looks good, I don't remember seeing it before.
Hermano, don't forget the Quotes site lives on, in all the various mirrors that were set up following the original's demise.
Jwfacts, useful list, thanks.

Freeminds is another source of excellent material. I'll always be appreciative to Randy for the help he gave me.
Having said that, I think I'll suggest Beyond JWs and AJWRB (thanks skeeter and Witness 007) to my friend.
Thanks for all your input. I really enjoyed going through all these sites again.
PS: Another couple I remember: www.607v587.com, has good information, but it's hard to read! And "The Truth vs. the truth" (http://libertyunbound.com/archive/2003_10/cox-truth.html) by Professor Stephen Cox.
